As you may recall from our posts earlier in the year, the CMHA ANWR was blessed not once, but twice by GP Auto group with donations of both a new van which we are using for our MAO program, and a beautiful cash donation of over eleven thousand dollars! As such, we have been putting their donations to good use which includes hitting the streets to combat the ever-present problems of homelessness and addiction here in the Grande Prairie area.

Currently we know of over 100 cases of chronic homelessness in the area, which means that there are over 100 people who have nowhere to live during the harsh winter months. In 2018, nobody should be left out in the cold. That is why on top of the programs that we offer, we would like to see more housing being offered to less fortunate individuals who simply can’t afford to keep up with the rising cost of rent and real estate. With just one full time and one part time case worker, that makes for a lot of work!

At the moment we estimate that there is enough to keep 5 full-time workers busy. Come join us, Grande Prairie, and help us give a voice in our community to those who don’t have one!
