CMHA Grande Prairie has started a new partnership with Operational Stress Injury Canada (OSI-CAN).

OSI-CAN is an Operational Stress Injury/Post Traumatic Stress Support Initiative created in January 2016 as a partnership between the Canadian Mental Health Association (SK) and The Royal Canadian Legion (Saskatchewan Command). The program is now operating some 25 groups across Alberta Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

OSI-CAN offers Peer Support Groups, Family Support Groups, assistance with service dog acquisition and referrals to equine therapy programs. These support groups and prgrams provide a free, safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment where you can talk openly about mental health to build literacy while finding meaningful support and resources. This partnerships mission is to inspire hope and contribute to the continuous well-being and recovery process of Veterans and Front Line Protectors across Canada.

OSI-CAN seeks to empower and encourage first-responders to strive for recovery through peer and professional support while creating greater public awareness.

This is now offered as a service to Grande Prairie as a partnership between CMHA and OSI-CAN.
